Pictures for Money

This is The Who, Roger Daltry in action. I saw every live band worth seeing in the 60 s and 70s. There's no question in my mind, The Who were the greatest. The Stones were fabulous but the Who had a circus like quality about them, a spectacle. Daltry's micriophone spinning bombast, Townshend's windmilling right arm, Moon's thrashing, threatening drums, The Ox's quiet disdain.

When I see this picture, I hear those power chords and the bawling voices and the thrashing drums.

Later on, I'd see AC/DC, Dire Straits, Neil Young, so many others, all the great rockers. But somehow, The Who really were 'The Greatest rock And Roll Band In The world'.

A word of advice. If you love a band or an artist, don't meet them. It's always disappointing. They really are just people. Often very nice people, but the illusion is always better.
